Jack Childs Wins His 300th Match as Drexel Downs Rider, 21-12

Philadelphia, Pa. (January 17, 2002)-Drexel University Head Wrestling Coach Jack Childs won his 300th career match tonight as Drexel defeated Rider, 21-12, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The win improved Childs' overall record to 300-172-8. He is in his 26th season at the University.    Drexel, now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the CAA,trailed 6-3 after three bouts, but rallied for three-straight decisions. After a Rider decision narrowed the lead to 12-9, Drexel's Matt Kennett (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) pinned Rider's Joe Pollard to give the Dragons a commanding 18-9 lead. Each team won a decision in the final two bouts.     Drexel travels to East Stroudsburg on Saturday to face the Warriors and Bucknell in a tri-match beginning at 1 p.m.    Childs is a past President of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. He also served as event director and host of the USA Wrestling Freestyle World Teams Trials for a number of years.    Drexel 21, Rider 12  174 - Nick Catone (Rider) dec.
