ODU's Rusak, Drexel's Jones named CAA Wrestlers of Week; Hofstra's Masa Rookie of Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ--Senior Jeff Rusak of Old Dominion University, and sophomore Chris Jones of Drexel University, have been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association as the CAA Wrestlers of the Week, and freshman Jon Masa of Hofstra University was named the Rookie of the Week, for all competition prior to December 10. Rusak (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg High School), currently ranked seventh in the nation by both InterMat and by Amateur Wresting News among 174 pounders, began the 2001-2002 season 10-0, winning the Mat Town Tournament and the ODU Invitational. Rusak went 3-0 at the N.C. State Duals, and improved his career record to 110-17. Jones (Easton, PA/Easton Area), currently ranked 16th in the nation by InterMat and 20th by AWN among 197 pounders, began the season 12-2, 3-0 against other CAA wrestlers. An East Coast Wrestling Association champion last season, Jones won the Cornell Invitational this year by beating nationally ranked Matt Greenberg of Cornell. Jones also went 3-0 at the N. C. State Duals. Mesa (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach High), currently ranked 19th among 141 pounders by AWN, pinned 13th ranked Luke Moffitt of Iowa and also recorded a win in a dual meet with Minnesota to begin his collegiate career 6-2.
