Formerly known as the Keystone Women's Open, the Rollie Hoover/Mort Geller Women's Open is scheduled for Meadville High School in Meadville, Pa., October 12-13. This is the opening tournament of the new season for women wrestlers. Top female athletes of all ages, from youth through the senior level, will be able to get quality competition at this annual event. This year, tournament director John Stanford has named the competition in memory of two outstanding wrestling officials who passed away in recent years, the legendary referees Rollie Hoover and Mort Geller. Traditionally, there are dual meets between college and club teams on Friday night at this event. This year, the Friday night dual meet will feature two college varsity wrestling teams - the Univ. of Minnesota at Morris against Cumberland College. On Saturday, the tournament competition will be held, with age divisions for youth and Senior athletes. Girls of all ages who are seeking a quality early season tournament should attend. Athletes from other nations have participated in this event in past years. For more information, contact tournament director John Stanford at (814)337-0859.
