Bronze Certification Course in the Heart of Wrestling Country With Greg Strobel, 2000 Olympic Co-Coach and Head Coach of Lehigh University and John Hohman, National Developmental Coach of the Year For 2000, Through USA Wrestling's National Coaches Education Program Friday, October 5th 2001 from 6:oo p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6th from 10:00 a.m. until completion At Whitehall-Coplay Middle School in Whitehall, Pennsylvania Registration for this Bronze Level Coaches Certification Course has been exceptional over the past two months. However because of the size of our facility we will be able to accommodate more participants. We will accept registrations up until the start of the clinic, early preregistration is strongly suggested to insure the availability of instructional materials. During our recent efforts to promote this clinic and the National Coaches Education Program two of the most frequently asked questions have been. Why should I take this course? There are many answers to that question but the one I cite most is, as Coaches, we continually demand that our wrestlers show commitment and maximum effort to develop their physical abilities and refine their wrestling skills. Isn't it fair that our wrestlers should expect that same commitment from us, their coaches to develop and refine our skills as coaches? This clinic is an excellent chance to show that commitment in a real and tangible way. The second most frequently asked question is. " I coach Folkstyle, how will this course help me"? This question is far easier to answer! The content of the Bronze Level Course is 90% plus generic to all styles of wrestling, with sections on subjects such as, coaching roles and philosophy, effective teaching, interpersonal skills, program development, psychology of coaching, sports psychology, stress management, sports medicine, training and nutrition, strength training and fundamental wrestling skills, all common subjects. The Greco-Roman and Freestyle syllabus is only a small portion of the course and even that has common points, "a head outside single is a head outside single" whether its Freestyle or Folkstyle. The National Coaches Education Program is designed to give coaches at all levels the foundation and principals for successful coaching. It also provides opportunities for coaches at higher levels to advance their professional educations through the Silver Coaches College or Gold level Programs.
