As the nation and the wrestling community begins to honor the victims of the recent tragedies in New York and Washington D.C. USA Wrestling has determined that the previously scheduled Terry Brands Membership Tour will go on as scheduled. "The recent attacks that the United States endured in New York and Washington D.C. were startling. The United States is bravely moving forward and USA Wrestling is determined to do the same. We feel that the individuals who come to meet Terry Brands will gather strength from his visit that will help all of us to better deal with this terrible tragedy", stated Rich Bender of USA Wrestling. The extensive Terry Brands Membership Tour will travel first to Rahway New Jersey on the 20th followed by a Friday night stop in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Terry Brands will complete his five state tour by traveling to Dover, Delaware on Saturday, September 22nd; Hartford, Connecticut on the 23rd; and Glens Falls, New York on Monday, September 24th. Among the goals of the Terry Brands Membership Tour are, to grow the base of amateur wrestling and to provide exposure to a real wrestling hero. Terry Brands has been one of America's most successful wrestlers. Brands earned two World Titles as well as capturing the Bronze Medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Brands is currently employed as an assistant coach at Northern Montana State University. Despite the recent events that have shook the foundation of the United States, organizers for the tour stops feel that this event will give people a positive opportunity to move forward. "We are enduring a difficult time in this great nation, but we feel people are ready to show that last Tuesday's attacks were only a terrible setback that we will recover from. The Brands Membership Tour will give people a place to gather together and begin the process of returning our lives back to some form of normalcy", Kennon Engelmann of Glens Fall, New York. The Terry and Tom Brands Membership Tour is open to people outside of the states attended. Participants need only to purchase their 2001-2002 Membership card for USA Wrestling to attend the clinics. Coaches of wrestlers are encouraged to organize a team trip to meet Terry Brands. Cards will be sold at the door for participants needing to purchase the 2001-2002 Membership card. Each tour stop has a local organizer who can be called if further information is needed.
