Pete Isais named USA Wrestling Director of National Events

Pete Isais of Fargo, N.D. has been named as USA Wrestling's Director of National Events, announced USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender. USA Wrestling is the national governing body for amateur wrestling in the United States.    Isais will direct USA Wrestling's National Events programs. He shall be responsible for USA Wrestling's regional, national and international event development and implementation. Among his specific duties will be directing the bidding and contracting of events and the supervising the staging of all national and international events.    "Pete brings a great background to USA Wrestling and the position," said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling Executive Director. "We are very fortunate to add such as quality individual to the USA Wrestling family. Pete has proven himself in the event management field by his leadership role in numerous Junior National Championships and NCAA events."    "I'm excited to work with a first-class organization like USA Wrestling in the promotion of amateur wrestling," said Isais. "I think that this is a great opportunity for me and my family, and a great boost for my career."    He has served as the assistant wrestling coach at nationally respected North Dakota State University since 1994. Working with head coach Bucky Maughan, North Dakota State has been one of the strongest NCAA Div. II wrestling teams for many years. The Bison have won three national titles in the last four years.    Isais has managed recruiting and assisted with coaching duties with the Bison program. He has been the academic coordinator, as well as the conditioning, weight training and nutrition program coordinator for the team.     He has been active in the team's public relations and promotional duties. Isais directs the Bison Olympic Developmental Club, and plans all freestyle and Greco-Roman practices in the spring season. As Director of the NDSU Youth Wrestling clinics, Isais has taught wrestling skills to over 100 boys and girls from ages 5-10 each winter. He is also the Director of NDSU "Win By Pin"  wrestling camps.    Since 1997, Isais has also served as Director of Recreation/Intramurals at North Dakota State University. He manages the budget for the school's recreation and intramural programs. Isais manages about 40 employees in the program, hiring and directing students to supervise, check identification, and lifeguard recreation facilities. Among other responsibilities, he coordinates the building schedule for North Dakota State Recreation and Intramurals.    He has been an active leader within USA Wrestling for many years.  Isais has served as the Co-Director of USA Junior/Cadet National Wrestling Tournament  since 1995. This is the world's largest wrestling tournament, held on the floor of the FargoDome, with more than 3,500 participants each year.    Isais shared in developing successful bid for tournament with FargoDome, USA Wrestling, and NDSU Athletics. He has managed the event operations activities for the university, including responsibilities in numerous capacities. Among the key activities are to coordinate meetings with NDSU Residence Life for the housing and food of wrestlers, coaches and officials, as well as to organize volunteers and staffing of table workers, security and registration personnel.    He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, with an emphasis on Advertising and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1993. Isais also received a Master of Arts in Physical Education, with an emphasis in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1994.    Isais was a varsity wrestler for four years at the Univ. of Northern Colorado. He served as the team captain for two seasons. He also competed for Fowler High School in Colorado, winning the high school state title two times and placing second as a freshman.    Isais is expected to begin his work at USA Wrestling by October 15. Mark Scott, who is currently serving as Director of National Events, will return to his position as USA Wrestling's Director of State Services.
