USA WRESTLING STATEMENT, SEPTEMBER 12, 2001 USA Wrestling wishes to extend its most sincere condolences to each and every family who may have lost a loved one during the tragic acts of terrorism on September 11. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have suffered and are grieving. In regard to the upcoming World Wrestling Championships in New York City, there is no new information to announce that changes the plans for the event. USA Wrestling, in conjunction with the organizing committee NYC2012; FILA (the international federation); and local, state, and federal authorities, is currently assessing the full impact of this tragic act of terrorism in New York. It may take from 24 to 48 hours until there is sufficient information. It is premature to make any decision regarding the World Championships at this time. The No. 1 priority is for the safety of the athletes, the foreign delegations, volunteers, fans and others involved with the Championships. After communicating with the appropriate individuals and agencies, USA Wrestling will issue additional statements and releases.
