Prior to the battle for the World Title slated to take place at Madison Square Gardens, Terry and Tom Brands will lend their dynamic wrestling knowledge to a membership drive for USA Wrestling. Terry will head to five states from September 20th, to September 24th. Tom Brands will visit the state of Virginia on Sunday, September 23rd. USA Wrestling provides these Tour stops at no cost to its membership that has purchased the 2001-2002 Membership card. Wrestlers, coaches, and parents are invited to join these clinics by buying their membership card on site at the clinic held nearest to them. The tour, covering the mid-Atlantic region, offers a wrestling fan a tremendous opportunity for the low-cost of a one-year membership in USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body of amateur wrestling. The explosive intensity that the Brands wrestling duo brought to the Iowa Hawkeye wrestling team is not lost on the wrestling fans of the east coast. "We are expecting a great turn-out to greet Tom Brands in Virginia", said Phil Cronin local organizer for the Sunday, September 23rd stop in Chantilly, Virginia, "As soon as this clinic was confirmed we began getting calls from Virginia members and even from states like New Jersey and North Carolina." Tom Brands, who serves as the top-assistant for the University of Iowa, didn't pass on the opportunity to come to Virginia and help build the growing ranks of amateur wrestling. "I probably schedule myself a little more than I should but I'm looking forward to meeting the people of Virginia. From there I'll head right to New York City to make sure that my guys have their heads on straight to win a World Championship." The extensive Terry Brands Membership Tour will travel first to Rahway New Jersey on the 20th followed by a Friday night stop in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Terry Brands will complete his five state tour by traveling to Dover, Delaware on Saturday, September 22nd; Hartford, Connecticut on the 23rd; and Glens Falls, New York on Monday, September 24th. The Terry Brands stop in Connecticut has generated tremendous excitement in the state. "Terry Brands' appearance in Hartford really has the potential to help us grow a stronger USA Wrestling organization in Connecticut", said Mike Quibble Treasurer of the state organization. Tom Pavia, state chair of Delaware sees equal potential in Brands' appearance. "Terry Brands by taking the time to travel to these areas and give so generously of his time is really showing how much he cares about the sport of wrestling. We are working together in Delaware to generate a great group of wrestling fans to meet with a real wrestling hero like Terry Brands." The Brands tour stops will give wrestling enthusiasts a great clinic for an extremely affordable price. People will be able to witness first hand the intensity that made Tom and Terry Brands two of America's most successful amateur wrestlers. Rich Bender, Executive Director of USA Wrestling, sees the Brands Membership Tour as a great way to draw people to the national organization that supports amateur wrestling. "Terry and Tom are two quality individuals that we are proud to showcase in these clinics. Their skills in wrestling and love for the sport are well known and the people who attend these clinics will be more enthusiastic about wrestling after they meet Terry or Tom." The Terry and Tom Brands Membership Tour is open to people outside of the states attended. Participants need only to purchase their 2001-2002 Membership card for USA Wrestling to attend the clinics. Coaches of wrestlers are encouraged to organize a team trip to meet Terry or Tom Brands. Each tour stop has a local organizer who can be called if further information is needed.
