Junior National Greco-Roman Medal Matches highlighted by dominant performances

Several winners in the Junior National Greco-Roman medal matches won in dominant fashion, as pins and technical fall decisions were abound tonight at the Junior National Greco-Roman Championships at the FargoDome in Fargo, N.D.     In the 98-pound bracket, Paul Donahoe of Michigan claimed third place by technical over Cash Coolidge of Nebraska, Shane Walton defeated Hamed Heider of Virginia for fifth place and Matt Gardner of Oregon blanked Sandeep Kumar of New York to claim seventh place by technical fall.    For medal honors in the 105.5-pound bracket, Kevin Hunter of Utah scored a technical fall over Christian Smith of Virginia for third place, Joseph Betterman of Illinois pinned Ryan Hannigan of New York for the fifth place victory and Alex Usztics of Pennsylvania dominated Jason Chase of Michigan for a technical fall victory for seventh place.     At 114.5 pounds, Luke Smith of Wisconsin scored a technical fall over teammate Willy Holst for third place, Daryl Spackman won by injury default over Eric Stevenson of Oregon for fifth place and Eric Sanders defeated Nathan Browning for seventh place honors.      Quincy Osbourn of Minnesota won a decision over John Wagner of Wisconsin for third place in the 123-pound bracket, while Christian Bowerman of California pinned Ian McGoldrick of Pennsylvania for fifth place and Justin Pearch of Oregon blanked Luke Metzler of Kansas with a technical fall victory for seventh place.      Two matches were decided by technical fall in the 132-pound bracket as Todd Meneely of Nebraska blanked Matt Stenglien of New York for third place and Shawn Bunch of Kansas won seventh place by an 11-0 technical fall, while the fifth place match went to Tom Vargas of California in a decision over Skyler Woods of Nevada.      At 143 pounds, C.P. Schlatter of Ohio won a decision over Joe Henning of Wisconsin to claim third place, Travis Paulson of Ohio defeated Matt Murray of Kansas for fifth place and Matt Pell of Wisconsin won a technical fall decision over Matt McIntire of Ohio for seventh place.     The 154-pound medal match saw a high scoring third place match as Dustin Tillman broke the bout open in the final round to win by a 21-10 technical fall over Tony Hook, while Daniel Price of California scored a decision over Nathan Galloway of Pennsylvania for fifth place and Artem Krylov pinned Joe Johnston of Kansas for seventh place.      In the 165-pound medal matches, Sven Hafemeister of California defeated Nathan McMillin of Illinois for third place honors, while Brand Shafizabeh of Utah pinned Marshall Marquardt of Iowa for fifth place and Paul Bergman of Ohio squeaked by A.J. Morgan of Wisconsin 4-3 to take seventh place.     Travis Frick of Pennsylvania won a 3-2 overtime decision over Lee Kraemer of Wisconsin for third place in the 178-pound finals while J.D. Bergman of Ohio pinned Anthony Rubalacava of California for fifth place and Jeff Courtney of West Virginia  defeated Nick Terry of Ohio for seventh place.     The 191.5-pound medal matches saw Kevin Miles of Ohio defeat Eric Smith of Idaho for third place while John Davis of Florida defeated Dustin Docter of Illinois for fifth place and Justin Dyer of Kansas won a decision over Jared Terrell of New Jersey to claim seventh place.      Max Lossen of Minnesota blanked James Hollis of California for a third place victory in the 220-pound bracket while Sean Barnes of Illinois beat David Clarke of Virginia 8-7 in overtime for fifth place and Ian Bork of Kansas defeated Angelo Caponi of Ohio for seventh place honors.      In the heavyweight bracket, Cain Velasquez of Arizona won a decision over Akil Patterson for third place, Tyler Rees of Pennsylvania score three points in overtime to defeat Christian Knight of Ohio for fifth place and Josh Downing won over Adam Patino of Californial to take seventh place honors.
