Gene Krebs of North Dakota named USA Wrestling Junior Person of the Year

Gene Krebs of Minot, N.D. has been named 2001 USA Wrestling Junior Person of the Year by USA Wrestling, the national governing body for amateur wrestling in the United States.    Krebs is the longtime State Chairperson for North Dakota, and has been a leader in the promotion of USA Wrestling events and activities on the state, regional and national level.    North Dakota has been an active state association within USA Wrestling and the Northern Plains Region. Krebs has also served as the North Dakota Junior leader for the nine years that the Asics Tiger Junior National Championships have been held in Fargo, N.D. at North Dakota State Univ.    He has served as a coach and leader with the Minot Freestyle Wrestling Club. He was also the President of the Minot High School Wrestling Boosters.    His entire family has been involved in the sport. Sons Jesse and Josh were champion wrestlers in high school, and also competed on the college leve. Wife Judy and daughter Jamie have also assisted with many of the Krebs family wrestling activities.    Krebs attended North Dakota State. He placed second in the 1974 North Dakota high school state wrestling championships.
