New York, NY (July 24, 2001) - The World Championships of Wrestling announced today that 11 more nations have indicated that they will send delegations to the World Championships in New York this September.      Three nations sent information that they will be sending complete 22-athlete teams, including eight men's freestyle athletes, eight men's Greco-Roman athletes and six women's freestyle athletes. Canada, Germany and Ukraine will field full teams in New York.    Japan indicated that they will be sending 16 men's athletes to compete, eight in each style. Japan is the reigning World Champion team in women's freestyle wrestling, and is also expected to send a full six-athlete women's team as well.    Other nations who have announced their intent to compete (with the number of athletes expected) are: Austria (4), Czech Republic (10), Great Britain (5), Nigeria (12), Norway (6), Portugal (4) and Spain (8).    Responses from each international federation must be returned to USA Wrestling by July 25, 2001 in order to secure a country delegation in the World Championships. Final team rosters must be submitted by each international delegation by August 25, 2001.      More than 600 athletes from 50 countries are expected to compete in the event. This marks the first time all three wrestling disciplines (Greco-Roman, men's freestyle and women's freestyle) will be held together in the United States, making this event the largest World Championships of Wrestling event ever held.    The World Championships of Wrestling will take place at Madison Square Garden, September 26-29, 2001.
