Fans get rowdy at Cadet Greco-Roman medal matches

A sea of crazed and loud red, yellow and blue waves flooded the stands of the FargoDome as rowdy fans and teammates showed their team colors in support of their favorite wrestlers at the medal matches today at the Advocare Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D.    The action didn't disappoint the fans as they cheered on every takedown, gut wrench and throw that led their favorite wrestlers to victory.     At 83.5 pounds, Adam Kimbrell of Georgia pinned A.J. McElroy of Oklahoma for third place, Joseph Segari of Louisiana defeated Josh Hartman of Pennsylvania 13-2 for fifth place and James Elam of Oklahoma scored a 5-2 victory over Thomas Kimbrell of Georgia for seventh place.    The 88-pound medal matches saw Jeremy Compton of Oklahoma pin Joe Weygand of Pennsylvania for third place, Andrew Gonzalez pin Corey Gottshalk of Michigan for fifth place and Mark Degliogizzi of Delaware score an 11-0 technical fall victory over Bradley Mugi of Washington for seventh place.    The 94.5-pound bracket saw a 13-8 victory from Steven Juarez of California over Josh Hansen of Minnesota for third place, while Sam Julian of Pennsylvania beat Gilbert Lopez of Oregon 8-4 for fifth place and Brad Patakay of Pennsylvania beat Louis Bean of Idaho 9-3 for the seventh place victory.    At 103.5 pounds, Jason Robbins of Florida won third place over Mike Compton of Ohio by a score of 4-1, Brandon Shelton of Oklahoma defeated Mike Rodriguez of Washington 13-6 and Josh Crass of Wisconsin pinned Matt Lang of Oregon for the seventh place finish.     Mark McKnight of Pennsylvania won third place in the 112-pound division over Chad Mendez by injury, Talon Vickers of Idaho defeated Tim Pierce of California 8-3 for fifth place and Jordan Crass of Wisconsin won by a 12-2 technical fall over Rudy Ramirez for seventh place.     At 121 pounds, Alex Tsirtsis of Indiana defeated Matt Stuart of Indiana 4-2 for third place, Micah Flodeen of Minnesota pinned mark Throckmorton of Pennsylvania for fifth place and Chase Walker of Utah blanked Matthew Nissen of Colorado for a 9-0 seventh place victory.     The 132-pound bracket saw three close matches as Sean Santana of Oregon beat Joe Rico of California 3-2 for third place, Carter Downing of Wyoming defeated Joe Gomez of Illinois 11-9 for fifth place and Rocky Cozart of Florida squeezed by Chris Abbott of Utah 4-3 for seventh place.     At 143 pounds, Tyler Williams of Illinois defeated Matt Crippes of California by a 16-3 technical fall for third place, Keith Gavin of Pennsylvania defeated Brandon Lozdoza of Illinois 14-5 for fifth place and Corey Harnitz of Minnesota defeated Jerid Lovejoy of New York 6-2 for seventh place.     The 154-pound bracket saw Blake Allen take third place 13-9 over Rick Brownlee, Blake Maurer of Indiana score an 11-0 technical fall over Brett Sloan of California for fifth place and Nick Hayes of Iowa score a 5-3 decision over Tyler Bernacchi of California for seventh place.     All the matches at the 182.5-pound bracket were blowouts, with Kyle Sand Colorado scoring a pin over Nick Boles of New Jersey for third place, Phil Bomberger of Pennsylvania pinning Tyler McCall of Pennsylvania for fifth place and Kurt Brenner of Pennsylvania winning a 13-4 decision over Brent Jones of Virginia for seventh place.     At 209 pounds, Kyle Massey of Minnesota blanked teammate Nate Savering 11-0 for third place, Patrick Brownson of Illinois beat Tom Rice of Nebraska 7-5 and Jacob Kallestad of Montana pinned Steve Anderson of Michigan.     The heavyweight matches saw three shutouts as Trevor Laws of Minnesota beat Jason Montgomery of California 9-0 for third place, Nikola Dragovic of California scored a 10-0 technical fall over Joe Wood for fifth place and Chris Hendershot of Indiana pinned Kyle Daily of Indiana for seventh place.
