Charles Edward Ragus of Dallas, Texas, 58, the founder of AdvoCare International, died on Friday, June 1. AdvoCare is an official sponsor of USA Wrestling, and has been an active supporter of the sport for many years.    "USA Wrestling is deeply saddened by the loss of Charlie Ragus," said Rich Bender, Executive Director of USA Wrestling. "Our sympathies go out to his family and friends, as well as all of the employees of AdvoCare International. His support of our sport has been truly appreciated, and he will be sincerely missed by the wrestling community."    Ragus was born in Mississippi, and spent his early years in Shreveport, where he graduated from Fair Park High School. He received an athletic scholarship from Northwestern State University in Louisiana. He married his high school sweetheart Peggy Usery in 1962, and graduated college with a business degree in 1965.    He played briefly for the Kansas City Chiefs before beginning a career with Fidelity Union Insurance Company, where he reached regional vice president by the age of 27. After working in real estate and with a family retail business, Ragus found his calling in the direct sales industry.    Joining Herbalife in 1983, Ragus become one of the company's top distributors. In 1989, he founded a company called Omnitron, but sold out after a few years to retire.    He came back in 1993 with a new mission, to set a standard for professionalism in the direct-sales industry and offer leading edge nutritional products. He created AdvoCare International, which has grown from two products and one distributorship to some 75 products, 100,000 distributors from Hawaii to Maine and a corporate staff of 125 in Carrollton, Texas.    "I didn't get into this business to be a vitamin salesman," Ragus once said. "I got into this business to change lives." Towards that end, the brought a level of stewardship and integrity to his work that inspired the devotion of thousands.     He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Peggy Ragus of Dallas, three daughters and son-in-laws, his parents Lyman and Narvis Ragus, his mother-in-law and six grandchildren.    The family will receive family and friends between 5-9 p.m. on Monday night at the Sparkman/Dickey Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 6 at the Centuries Funeral Home in Shreveport, La.    Memorials may be made to The Victory Junction Gang Camp in Honor of Adam Petty.
