Anthony Bartkowski of Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named Manager of National Events by USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body for the sport of amateur wrestling in the United States.Bartkowski comes to USA Wrestling after serving as the Director of Communications at USA Weightlifting since February of 1996.
"USA Wrestling is extremely pleased that Anthony Bartkowski is joining our national staff as the Manager of National Events," said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling's Director of National Events. "Anthony brings a strong mixture of skills and experience to the National Events Department. His background within USA Wrestling combined with his experience in a leadership role will be an asset to the organization."
As the Manager of Events, Bartkowski will serve as a contact for many national events each year. His duties will include preparing the annual event flyers, event promotion and event operations.
Bartkowski previously worked with USA Wrestling in the position of Communications Manager from 1993-1996.
"I am very excited about returning to USA Wrestling," said Bartkowski. "I look forward to the opportunity of working closely with Rich Bender and the many tournament directors to make USA Wrestling even stronger in the future."
At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga., Bartkowski served as a Press Officer for the United States Olympic Committee for the sport of Weightlifting.
Bartkowski graduated from Edinboro University in 1993 where he earned a bachelor's degree in Communications. While at Edinboro he worked as an assistant in the Sports Information Department for three years. He handled publicity for the NCAA Div. I wrestling program that was coached by four-time Olympic medalist Bruce Baumgartner.
He also worked as a summer intern with the Buffalo Bills as the Public Relations Training Camp Coordinator in 1991 and 1992.
