Tina George (South Euclid, Ohio/UM-Morris) was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the 1997 Keystone Women's Open held in Meadville, Pa., Oct. 17.  George, who placed seventh at the 1997 U.S. Nationals, scored a 5-3 upset decision over 1996 World silver medalist Jackie Berube (Evanston, Ill./Wildcat WC) to win the 123.25-pound title. 
 Kristy Jeffrey (Deland, Fla./UM-Morris) claimed two gold medals in the open division winning titles at 136.5 and 149.75 pounds. Jeffrey, ranked third in the U.S., claimed the 136.5-pound title with a 5-2 decision over Pia Nelson of Denmark. She earned her second title with a pin over Cassie Crisano of N.Y. in 0:47 in the 149.75-pound finals. 
 Other champions included Micah Kelly (Mercer, Pa.) at 101.25 lbs., Louise Jensen of Denmark at 112.25 lbs. and Nina Vernon (Rodeo, Calif./UM-Moris) at 165.25 lbs. 
 Kelly, a 1997 Cadet National champion at 88 pounds, claimed the 101.25-pound title with two wins including an 8-2 decision over runner-up Beth Suppa of Minnesota. 
 Jensen, a seven-time Danish national champion and European Junior champion, pinned Lisa Berube (Escanaba, Mich./Wildcat WC) in 2:09 to claim the 112.25-pound title. Berube is ranked second in the U.S. at 101.25 pounds. 
 Vernon, ranked fourth in the U.S., stopped second ranked Dominique Smalley (Iowa City, Iowa/UM-Morris) 7-3 on her way to winning the 165.25-pound title. 
 The Keystone Open is an annual event which features women's competition in the Novice, Schoolgirl, Cadet and Open divisions. This year 64 women competed from across the U.S. and included entries from Denmark and Norway.
