USA DEFEATS POLAND, 4-3, IN WOMEN'S WRESTLING DUAL MEET IN WARSAW, POLAND, FEB. 13The United States won four of seven matches to claim a friendly dual meet against Poland in women's wrestling in Warsaw, Poland, Feb. 13.
The USA opened with wins in the first two matches, and claimed four of the first five bouts.
Two-time World medalist Afsoon Roshanzamir (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) pinned Marta Wojtanowska at 101.25 pounds to open the dual meet.
Four-time World silver medalist Shannon Williams (Simi Valley, Calif./Sunkist Kids) followed with a 5-3 win over Agata Iwanska at 112.25 pounds.
After a victory by Poland, Stephanie Murata (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) scored a pin over Karolina Pastuchew at 123.25 pounds.
Jimi Dawn Hornbuckle (Poteau, Okla.) clinched the U.S. victory with a 3-1 decision over Iwelina Lakomy at 136.5 pounds.
This dual meet was held one day prior to the Polish Women's International Open in Warsaw, Feb. 14.
