T.J. Hill defends his title at the 1999 FILA Junior Freestyle National Championships/World Team Trials

T.J. Hill (Farmington, Mo./Dave Schultz WC) defended his title at the 1999 FILA Junior Freestyle National Championships and World Team Trials held at the Air Force Academy Cadet Fieldhouse in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 25. Hill decisioned Jason Powell of Midwest City, Okla., 14-7, to claim his title.

With his win, Hill has claimed a total of 11 USA Wrestling age-group titles, having won double titles at three of four levels. He has now tied the record for most age-group national titles, which is shared by 1996 Olympic silver medalist Brandon Paulson of Anoka, Minn. and Billy Pierce of Minneapolis, Minn.

All champions will compete for the United States at the 1999 FILA Junior Freestyle World Championships in Sydney, Australia, the host of the 2000 Olympic Games, on August 19-22.
