USA WRESTLING HIRES STEVE BRUNNER AS DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND PROPERTIES

Steve Brunner, 35, joins USA Wrestling as Director of Marketing and Properties after two and half years as director of marketing for the Goodwill Games, a division of Turner Sports of Atlanta.

Brunner will be responsible for the general marketing and brand development for USA Wrestling and sales packaging and fulfillment of all broadcasting properties.

"I'm excited to join one of the most reputable and winning traditions within the Olympic movement," said Brunner. "I look forward to bolstering the marketing efforts of USA Wrestling in the most impactful and creative ways possible for its members and corporate partners."

As director of marketing for the Goodwill Games, he directed the re-positioning of the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York into a multi-sport worldwide leader. Under his tenure, the Goodwill Games achieved record sponsor sales, and was lauded for its creative imaging and branding campaigns.

Also, at the Goodwill Games, he was responsible for creating and developing the highly-successful inaugural Junior Goodwill Games, a national grassroots program for children ages 8-13, which encompassed the sports of swimming, track and field, and basketball. The program drew more than 400,000 kids in its first year, on par with MLB's inaugural Diamond Skills. He also created and developed the successful Gold Medal Challenge, a touring sports play area that pitted participants against Olympic-level athletes' times in nine interactive disciplines.

Before working for Turner Sports, Brunner was the Vice President of Development and Communications for Medalist Sports of Richmond, Va., which created, developed, promoted, operated and managed the Tour DuPont and Tour of China, two highly-successful world-class professional cycling events formatted after the Tour de France. The company also consulted to several Olympic NGBs.

His Olympic experience includes being media and marketing coordinator for USA Water Polo, 1987-88; and working as press liaison for the 1988 Seoul Olympics, 1987 Pan American Games, and 1987 U.S. Olympic Festival.

Brunner is a native of Kenosha, Wisc. and graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is married (Terry) and has one son (Keegan).
