 USA Wrestling named Bob Siar and Sue Siar as the 1999 Junior Division Leaders of the Year 

Bob Siar and Sue Siar of Glenshaw, Pa. Are the co-recipients of the 1999 Junior Division Leaders of the Year award, presented by USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body for amateur wrestling in the United States.

Bob has attended and mat officiated every Northeast Junior Championships since 1977 and is the chairperson of the Northeast Kids/Cadet Division. He is a USWOA Category 1 Exceptionnelle Official and a FILA International Wrestling Official. He was elected to the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Famein1974.

Siar was an Assistant to the Secretariat at the1995 World Championships and a Secretariat at the 1996olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. as well as the 1998 Junior World Championships in Primm, Nev.

He has been involved with officiating for more than 30 years. He has officiated all levels of USA Wrestling competitions, including national, regional, state and local competitions. He has been the clinician for USAREUR Wrestling officials and championships in Germany since 1990.

Bob was a public school teacher at Shaler Area high school for 32years.He was also the head wrestling coach for 29 years at Shaler High School and Hampton High School. Siar's teams posted a 317-108-6record, and his athletes won numerous individual honors including eight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (P.I.A.A.) state titles.

Sue is a FILA Pairing Master and a Category 1 Exceptionnelle Pairing Official in the United States. She received a Lifetime Service Award for officiating from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame.

She has worked many of the most important events in the world. She was the Chief Pairer at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga., and pairing official at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984, the 1990 Greco-Roman World Championships in Rome, Italy and the 1995 Freestyle World Championships in Atlanta, Ga. Other top assignments have included the World Military Wrestling Championships, the Greco-Roman World Cup and, many, many others.

Sue is involved in tournament operations year round working at high school and collegiate tournaments, and state, regional, national and international tournaments.

She is a member of the USWOA Executive Board. She wrote a clinic manual for pairers in the United States, and was instrumental in organizing the writing the first "Policies and Procedures Manual" for USWOA pairing officials. She has attended and pairing officiated every Northeast Junior Championship since 1977 and attended and pairing officiated all but one Northeast Kids/Cadet Tournament since the start of the competition.

Sue received the first ever Bernie Norris Award for pairing excellence last year.
