USA Wrestling launches college Google+ Hangout Series with Oklahoma State

USA Wrestling is pleased to announce the launch of its 2013 college wrestling Google+ Hangout On Air series featuring some of the top college wrestling programs from around the nation beginning with Oklahoma State University next Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are the winningest program in NCAA Division I history boasting the most championships of any athletics program regardless of sport at 34. OSU has accumulated 136 individual NCAA National Titles and 46 conference championships.

Four Cowboys will participate in the Google+ Hangout On Air including Head Coach John Smith and wrestlers Chris Perry, Tyler Caldwell and Alex Dieringer.

Coach John Smith has won five NCAA Championships while with Oklahoma State in addition to two NWCA National Coach of the Year honors. Smith is a six-time World Champion as an athlete including two Olympic gold medals in 1988 and 1992 respectively.

174-pound wrestler for the Cowboys, Chris Perry, won the 2013 NCAA Championship at 174 lbs. and will be looking for to defend his title in a one of the deepest weight classes in the NCAA in 2014. Perry also garnered All-American honors in 2012 placing third at the NCAA Tournament.

Tyler Caldwell is a three-time All-American, once for the Cowboys last season finishing third at 165 lbs., and twice for OSU’s in-state rival Oklahoma Sooners, including an NCAA finals appearance in 2011 where he was defeated by two-time World Champion and Olympic Champion Jordan Burroughs.

Cowboy phenom Alex Dieringer stormed to a third place finish at the NCAA Tournament as a freshman and is looking to stand atop the podium in March. This summer Dieringer was a silver medalist at the Junior World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Oklahoma State wrestling Google+ Hangout On Air will be broadcast live on the USA Wrestling YouTube Channel next Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. EST.
