Boise State’s Jake Swartz selected to replace Ed Ruth at NWCA All-Star Classic

Two-time Pac-12 champion Jake Swartz of Boise State has been selected to replace Ed Ruth at the 2013 NWCA All-Star Classic presented by the Marines at George Mason University on Saturday, November 2.

Swartz comes in ranked sixth in the country by Amateur Wrestling News and is a three-time NCAA Division I qualifier. He finished in the Round of 12 during the 2013 NCAA Division I championships. 

Swartz finished last season with a 33-5 record and comes in with a career record of 74-27. He will face third-ranked Jimmy Sheptock of Maryland at 184 pounds. It will be the second straight year a Boise State wrestler has competed in the NWCA All-Star Classic. Last season, Jason Chamberlain defeated Oklahoma’s Nick Lester 6-3 at 149 pounds. 

Swartz and Sheptock combined for 73 wins last season. Sheptock edged Swartz 3-2 in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Division I Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Sheptock would finish in sixth place.
