U.S. freestylers competing at Dmitry Korkin International in Russia, Oct. 5-6

A team of eight talented young U.S. freestyle wrestlers will be in competition in the Siberia region of Russia this weekend, at the annual Dmitry Korkin International in Yakutsk, Russia, Oct. 5-6.

The group has been in Russia this week for training, in preparation for one of the first international freestyle events of the new season.

All of those on the tour were successful college All-American wrestlers, who have gone on to make a major commitment to competing in international freestyle.

Past Div. I NCAA champions on the tour are Cam Simaz of Cornell and David Zabriskie of Iowa State, both who will be competing at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Simaz won his NCAA title in 2012, and Zabriskie was an NCAA champion in 2010.

Matt Meuleners of Northern State was the Div. II national champion at heavyweight in 2011 and 2012 and competes at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. in freestyle.

The others on the tour, with their college affiliation are Frank Perrelli of Cornell (55 kg), Kyle Hutter of Old Dominion (55 kg), Kyle Ruschell of Wisconsin (66 kg), Austin Trotman of Appalachian State (84 kg) and Jack Jensen of Oklahoma State (96 kg). Jensen is currently a member of the U.S. Army WCAP program.
