American Jordan Burroughs has continued his amazing run and remains unbeaten during his remarkable international wrestling career.

The unflappable Burroughs won a World title coming right out of college at the University of Nebraska in 2011 before capturing an Olympic gold medal last summer in London, England.

Burroughs is now a perfect 60-0 on the Senior level in freestyle wrestling at 74 kg/163 lbs. He is 22-0 this season and is ranked No. 1 in the FILA World rankings.

The World Championships are set for Sept. 16-22 in Budapest, Hungary.

Iran’s Sadegh Goudarzi, second to Burroughs in the 2011 Worlds and 2012 Olympics, was a bronze medalist in the 2013 World Cup. That is his only international result this season.

Burroughs and Goudarzi did not face each other in the World Cup. Burroughs beat Iran’s Ezzatollah Akbarizarinkolaei 4-0, 2-0 at the 2013 World Cup in Tehran.

Hungary’s Gabor Hatos, ranked fifth in the World, won an Olympic bronze medal last year. He was second in the 2013 European Championships.

Turkey’s Soener Demirtas has burst onto the scene this year and has won two international tournaments this season. He is ranked No. 2 in the World and is a past Junior World silver medalist.

Two-time World champion Denis Tsargush of Russia, who lost to Burroughs in the 2011 Worlds and 2012 Olympics, finished third in the Russian Nationals this year. Tsargush bounced back to win the World University Games and is ranked third in the World.

Tamar Khubezhty won the Russian Nationals this year.

Rashid Kurbanov of Uzbekistan has had a strong season. He won the Asian Championships this year.

Azerbaijan’s Yabrail Hasanov is another wrestler who could make an impact in this division. Hasanov has bumped up a weight class this year after winning a pair of World bronze medals at 66 kg/145.5 lbs.

Hasanov, fifth in the Olympics last year at 66 kilos, placed second at the World University Games at 74 kilos this year.
