The wrestling community in the Southeast and around the nation is gearing up for a big celebration for our sport, Rally4Wrestling Atlanta in Alpharetta, Ga. over Labor Day Weekend, August 30 – September 2. The rally is a celebration of wrestling, a Keep Olympic Wrestling event, and a send-off for the U.S. Men’s Freestyle World Team as it goes through final preparation for the 2013 Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Sept. 16-22. Barth is the U.S. Men’s Freestyle World Team Leader. The event is being co-sponsored by USA Wrestling, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, the National Wrestling Coaches Association, the Committee for the Preservation of Olympic Wrestling (CPOW) and Takedown Sportswear. USA Wrestling’s very successful state association in Georgia, Team Georgia, is also supporting the activity. All events will be held at The Cooler, a popular sports complex in Alpharetta. John Bardis, the Director of Development and Finance for CPOW, owns the Cooler. It has become one of the finest family recreation centers in the nation, with established programs for figure skating, ice hockey, volleyball, roller hockey, martial arts, yoga and wrestling with internationally recognized coaches and trainers. The weekend will be packed with events that are intended to continue the momentum for the USA World team and to bring more attention to the Keep Olympic Wrestling movement.
