For the last two years, the 60 kg/132 lbs. Greco-Roman weight class has belonged to one man, Omid Noroozi of Iran. 

Noroozi secured a World championship in 2011 and an Olympic gold in 2012, making him the odds-on favorite to win gold medal No. 3 should he compete in Budapest. Noroozi has not posted any international results since the Olympics.

Russian Ivan Kuylakov is the current world No. 1, according to the FILA rankings. Kuylakov has posted an impressive year, earning the gold medal at the World University Games and the silver at the European Championships. Kuylakov owns a victory over world No. 2 Kamran Mammadov of Azerbaijan in the finals of the World University Games.

Russia also boasts a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist in Zaur Kuramagomedov. Should he be the Russian representative, Kuramagomedov would be a strong contender for the championship. He has not posted any international results since the Olympics. 

2011 World silver medalist Almat Kebispayev of Kazakhstan is one to keep an eye on as a gold-medal threat. Kebispayev has had an average year, highlighted by a bronze medal at the World University Games. He did not medal at the Asian Championships, but with World silver and bronze to his name expect Kebispayev’s experience to carry him deep into the tournament.  

23-year-old Azerbaijani Kamran Mammadov will be looking to make his mark at the Senior level. The 2010 Junior World Champion is currently ranked No. 2 in the world by FILA, boasting a silver medal at this year’s World University Games and a bronze at the European Championships. 

World No. 3 Elmurat Tasmuradov of Uzbekistan won the 2013 Asian Championships and is a looking to bounce back from a subpar performance at the London Olympics and grab a World medal. 

American young gun Jesse Thielke will headline a group of young stars looking for a breakthrough international performance at the World Championships.

Thielke is a 2012 Junior World bronze medalist. He has really hit his stride heading into the World Championships, including a captivating performance at the U.S. World Team Trials where he defeated Ryan Mango in an epic three-bout series. 

Thielke will wrestle as a freshman during the upcoming season at the University of Wisconsin.
