Benick won four national events this year, including the FILA Cadet Nationals, the Junior Folkstyle Nationals and the Cadet Nationals in both Greco-Roman and freestyle.

Stevan Micic of Indiana will compete at 54 kg/119 lbs. and opens with Nematdin Rahmanov of Azerbaijan. Micic’s family is of Serbian decent.

Competing at 46 kg/104.25 lbs. is Devin Brown of Pennsylvania, who will wrestle Balasz Egyed (Hungary), who was seventh in the 2013 European Championships.

“It’s a big day. I am hungry for some medals and I know they are too. Hopefully, they saw what happened today and will reiterate some of the things we talked about in camp with coaches Mark Perry, Jamill Kelly and I about tactics and strategies. You have to step on the mat ready to fight. The guys we have tomorrow, Devin Brown, Stevan Micic, Aaron Pico, Bo Nickal and Lance Benick, if they step on the mat ready to fight and are willing to take what we can, then they will be in a good position to succeed,” said Assistant National Freestyle Coach Bill Zadick.
