58 kg/127.75 lbs. - Eric Guerrero, Stillwater, Okla.

"Considering everything, I'm disappointed. The USOC takes the Pan Am Games very seriously. I have to take the loss and do something with it. If I don't, it's a double loss. This loss is what I make it out to be. Good or bad, only time will tell. A loss is not necessarily bad. A lot of times you learn more from a loss. I'm glad I got the chance to come here and wrestle care-free, as a pure wrestler without training. Now I have him on tape. Fortunately, I got in seven matches, and two against him. I'm sure with training I can beat him."

63 kg/138.75 - Cary Kolat, Bethlehem, Pa.

"The Pan Am Games are a great tune-up, a springboard to the worlds. For the tournament, I felt rusty. I had a great training camp, but I felt sluggish. That's why the Pan Am games are a great tune-up for the Worlds."

69 kg/152 lbs. - Lincoln McIlravy, Iowa City, Iowa

"This is the third time I've wrestled Sanchez. The more times you wrestle someone they either try harder or less. Just like a wounded animanal. He fought for all he was worth. I didn't know if he would laydown and concede or fight hard."

"To have the anthem cut short is a little bit of a cheat. People paid money and it would have only taken two extra minutes to play it. If Cuba wins don't cut theirs short either."

"I'm not really ready for the Worlds. I wrestled on heart and guts. With training I'll be better. I'll be ready for the Worlds."

76 kg/167.5 lbs. - Joe Williams, Iowa City, Iowa

"He kept putting his hands in my face, he popped out my contact."

"The coaching staff emphasized staying focusing. I've seen matches like that so it didn't surprise me. You've just got to keep your composure and remember sportsmanship. You can't let the person take you out of your game plan, you've just got to stay focused and try to score. Anytime you win a tournament of this size it raises your confidence."

"The trainers did an excellent job of trying to stop the bleeding."

97 kg/213.75 lbs. - Dominic Black, Colorado Springs, Colo.

"Winning means a lot. It builds momentum for the Worlds. He was a good challenge for me. My confidence has gone to another level. I'm reassured that I can compete at this level."

"I felt I wrestled well. I wanted to finish him fast. I tried the toe step twice, but my hands were tired. I looked at the clock, which I probably shouldn't have, it was just a matter of holding him and controlling position"

130 kg/286 lbs. - Stephen Neal, Bakersfield, Calif.

"I made two big mistakes that cost me six points. I knew I was in better shape. I wish my legs were in better shape because I would have taken more shots."

"I'm real fortunate that we have the top heavyweights in the world. Just to make the U.S. team you have to be tough. Just making the team is real hard."

"I'm honored to be associated with the sport and Bruce Baumgartner. He is such a great guy."

"I watched the five golds. I didn't want to be the guy receiving the silver."

"I'm thinking about playing football after the Olympics. I'm thinking tight end or defensive end."

Head Coach - John Smith

"It was one of the best heavyweight matches of the century. It was good for the new faces to have success and build confidence leading into the world championships. We think we are at a point now where we expect to win gold. And we are not satisfied if we don't get it. There are some athletes who are dissappointed therefore. I think we had some real tests this evening. Most importantly, this event established some of our youth and gives them confidence for the next few months."
