SPALA, Poland – American Alyssa Lampe won a gold medal, and U.S. wrestlers Victoria Anthony and J.D. Bergman earned bronze medals in international events here on Sunday.

Lampe won the Poland Open championship in women’s freestyle at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. while Anthony took bronze in the same weight class. Lampe and Anthony are 2013 U.S. World Team members.

Bergman, also a World Team member, won a bronze medal in men’s freestyle at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. at the Ziolkowski Memorial International.

The two events were held alongside each other in Poland on Sunday.

Lampe, a 2012 World bronze medalist, went 5-0 on the day. She defeated Tatyna Amanzhol of Kazakhstan in the gold-medal match. Amanzhol was fifth in the 2008 Olympics and fifth in the 2012 World Championships.

Lampe downed Anthony in the semifinals. Anthony came back to defeat Italy’s Felice Silva in her match for bronze. Anthony knocked off World No. 1 ranked Elena Vostrikova of Russia in her first match.

Lampe will compete at 48 kilos at next month’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary while Anthony will represent the U.S. at 51 kg/112.25 lbs. at the Worlds.

Bergman dropped his first match to Ukraine’s Pavlo Olinyk by a 3-2 score before winning three straight to collect a medal. He defeated Turkey’s Ibrahim Bolukbasi in his bronze-medal bout. Bergman won this event last year.

American Dustin Kilgore went 1-1 at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. on Sunday.

Puerto Rico's Franklin Gomez, who trains with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club in State College, Pa., won a gold medal in freestyle at 60 kg/132 lbs. Gomez defeated Poland’s Krzysztof Bienkowski 8-0 in the finals.
