Team Excel held a Super Challenge in Denver, Colo. on March 28, with wrestlers from around the world.Winners included some local stars, and some foreign athletes. From the United States: Tom Klum (Pamona H.S./Team Excel) won at 119 pounds, Scott Frohart (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Force) at 152 pounds, and U.S. freestyle resident athletes, Burke Tyree (Colorado Springs, Colo./Team Excel) at 127.75 pounds, Ramico Blackmon (Colorado Springs, Colo./Team Excel) at 152 pounds and Jason Kraft (Colorado Springs, Colo./Team Excel) at 167.5 pounds.
Some foreign athletes included: Carlos Ortiz (Cuba) at 138.75 pounds. Ortiz was second in the 1994 Goodwill Games, and won gold medals at the 1994 and 1997 Pan American Championships. Vincent Roxburgh (New Zealand) at 167.5 pounds, and Eoghn Tivoli (Australia) at 286 pounds.
Two exhibition matches also took place. At 138.75 pounds, Rory O'Farrell (Greeley H.S.) decisioned Adrian Lobb (Mullen H.S.), 17-8, and at 152 pounds, Cody Olivas (Ft. Collins H.S.) won by a technical fall over Anthony Lopez (Loveland H.S.), 12-0.
