The “Rumble on the Rails” at Grand Central Terminal in New York City, an international wrestling event to benefit Beat the Streets and held on May 15 this year under the Keep Olympic Wrestling banner, has been nominated for “Best Amateur Sporting Event” for the 2013 SportsTravel Awards.

The historic wrestling event took place on May 15, 2013 at Vanderbilt Hall in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal and featured three of the world’s wrestling superpowers, the United States, Russia and Iran. The competition was held alongside the annual Awards Gala for Beat the Streets, a youth organization that seeks to provide opportunities for boys and girls in the activity of wrestling, building lifelong skills.

The events drew in a capacity crowd, and raised a record $1.5 million for the organization. Both of the dual meets were broadcast live on national television, with the USA vs. Iran match on NBC Sports Channel and the USA vs. Russia match on Universal Sports.
