WARSAW, Poland – Four U.S. wrestlers weighed in and received draws for the Pytlasinski Memorial International, a major Greco-Roman tune-up event prior to the World Championships which begins on Saturday.
Three members of the 2013 U.S. World Team will compete on Saturday.
At 55 kg/121 lbs., World Team member and two-time Olympian Spenser Mango will open with Anar Zeinalov of Estonia. Zeinalov’s top performance was a fifth place at the 2011 European Championships.
World Team member Jordan Holm opens his competition at 84 kg/185 lbs. against Javid Hamzatau of Belarus. Hamzatau was a bronze medalist at the 2013 World University Games. Holm will be competing in his first World Championships this year.
The U.S. has two entries at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. 2013 World Team member Robbie Smith will face Levani Arabuli of Georgia in the opening match. Arabuli was a 2012 European Junior silver medalist. Smith, who will be competing at his first World Championships in 2013, is a two-time Pan American Championships silver medalist.
Also at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. is 2013 U.S. Open champion and World Team Trials runner-up David Arendt, who has drawn Lukasz Banak of Poland in his first match. Banak was a 2010 World Military champion and has placed as high as fifth at the Senior World Championships.
"The Pytlasinki tournament is going to be a tough tournament. Russia, Hungary, Turkey along with many other strong countries are here with their best teams. This will be a great test for our world team. It's gonna be a great weekend of wrestling," said National Greco-Roman Coach Steve Fraser
