Colby Covington (Corvallis, Ore./American Top Team) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Covington won a gold medal in No-Gi Grappling on the final day of the FILA World Championships in Non-Olympic Styles on Saturday in London, Canada.

Covington, a past NCAA All-American at Oregon State, won the gold medal competing in his first FILA Grappling World event.

He went 3-0 on the day at 77 kg/169.5 lbs., including a 2-0 win over an opponent from Poland in the finals.
