Looking for a weight class with potentially great wrestling, compelling stories and plenty of drama?

This weight class simply has it all. It's the weight class that nobody wants to miss at the U.S. World Team Trials.

A star-studded field, featuring five NCAA champions who have combined to win the last three Hodge Trophy awards, is set to take the mat in men's freestyle at 74 kg/163 lbs.

Olympic and World champion Jordan Burroughs headlines the loaded field that will compete at 74 kilos at the Trials, set for June 21-22 in Stillwater, Okla.

The explosive, powerful Burroughs is a perfect 54-0 on the Senior level. He defeated 2012 NCAA champion and Hodge Trophy winner David Taylor in April’s U.S. Open finals. Burroughs won the Hodge Trophy in 2011 after capturing his second NCAA title for Nebraska.

Burroughs has embarked on an amazing run internationally and he has clinched a spot in the best-of-3 finals at the Trials. He will face the Challenge Tournament winner in the final-round series.

The dynamic Taylor has looked superb in freestyle this spring. He earned a spot on the University World Team last month and is one of the top young prospects in the U.S.

Four-time NCAA champion and 2013 Hodge Trophy winner Kyle Dake also will be in the mix to win the Challenge Tournament at 74 kilos. Dake is another gifted young wrestler who earned a win over Iran in the Rumble on the Rails dual last month in New York City.

Dake beat Taylor 5-4 in the NCAA finals in March and also owns a freestyle win over him from the 2012 Olympic Trials. Dake placed fourth at the Olympic Trials.

Taylor and Dake are past Junior World Team members.

Past NCAA champion Andrew Howe also will be a threat to win the Challenge Tournament. The hard-nosed, powerful Howe recently returned from an injury and looked dominant in winning a title at University Nationals. Howe fell to Burroughs in the finals of the 2011 World Team Trials and 2012 Olympic Trials, taking a period from Burroughs last year before suffering an injury.

Past National Team member Nick Marable is another strong wrestler in this weight class. Marable placed third at the U.S. Open with a win over past NCAA All-American Ryan Morningstar.

2012 University World bronze medalist Colt Sponseller was fifth in Vegas with Moza Fay sixth. Past NCAA runner-up Dan Vallimont was seventh at the Open.

Past World Team member and NCAA champion Trent Paulson also is expected to compete. Paulson placed third at the 2012 Olympic Trials. He earned a win over Dake in that event. Paulson is strong defensively and is a tough draw as a wrestler who is difficult to score on.

The new FILA rules, implemented after the U.S. Open, also will be in place at the World Team Trials. There are now two three-minute periods with cumulative scoring. Takedowns are now worth two points instead of one.
