U.S. wins six titles at Austrian Ladies Open, May 31-June 2

GOTZIS, AUSTRIA - The United States had six champions crowned at the 15th Austrian Ladies Open held May 31 to June 2.

Seniors winning gold medals were Victoria Anthony (Huntington Beach, Calif., Sunkist Kids) at 48 kg/105.5 lbs., Whitney Conder (Colorado Springs, Colo., Gator WC) at 51 kg/112.25 lbs. and Sarah Hildebrandt (Granger, Ind., King College) at 55 kg/121 lbs.

She is a two-time Senior World Champion and was second in the 2013 U.S. Open, Anthony defeated Lenka Matejova of the Czech Republic in the finals to win a gold medal at the 2013 Austrian Ladies Open.

Conder beat Canada’s Vanessa Brown in the finals to win the gold at 51 kg.  She was a silver medalist at both the 2012 Pan American Championships and the 2012 U.S. Open.
  
Hildebrandt was the 2013 Pan American Championships gold medalist at 55 kg and placed fourth at this year’s U.S. Open.  The King College wrestler ran the table at the 2013 Austrian Ladies Open and beat Aurelie Basset of France in the finals to secure the a gold medal.

Other medalists for the U.S. were Julia Salata (Canton, Mich., NYAC/King College) who won the silver medal at 67 kg/147.5 lbs. and Jennifer Page (Orangevale, Calif., Titan Mercury WC) who won bronze at 63 kg/138.75 lbs.  Salata was a bronze medalist at the 2013 Pan American Championships and Page won the bronze at the 2013 U.S. Open.

Amanda Hendey (Beaumont, Calif., King College Titan Mercury WC) placed fourth at 63 kg/138.75 lbs., Haley Augello (Lockport, Ill., NYAC) placed fourth at 51 kg/112.25 lbs., Cody Pfau (Parachute, Colo., Parachute WC) placed fifth at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. and Deanna Rix-Bettermann (Colorado Springs, Colo., Sunkist Kids) placed sixth at 59 kg/130 lbs. to round out the Senior place winners for the U.S.

Twin sisters Marina and Regina Doi (Kingsburg, Calif.) won the two lightest weight classes in the FILA Cadet tournament.  Marina Doi won gold at 38 kg/83.78 lbs. while Regina Doi won gold at 40 kg/88.18 lbs.  Both titles came uncontested.

Francesca Giorgio (West Lawn, PA) was the other Cadet gold medalist for the U.S., winning the title at 60 kg/132 lbs.  Giorgio won a decision over Pauline Lecarpnetier of France before winning by technical fall against Vanessa Pajantschitsch of Austria to secure the title.

Madison Tung (Santa Monica, Calif.) won the bronze medal at 52 kg/114.64 lbs. for the U.S.A.
