LOS ANGELES – A strong field loaded with elite wrestlers from the United States, Russia and Canada is set to take the mat for an exciting day of competition at the United 4 Wrestling event on Sunday.

Some of the top men’s and women’s freestyle wrestlers in the world will compete in the event, set for 2 p.m. PDT Sunday at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. A live webcast of the dual will be available by clicking here

Olympic and World champion Jordan Burroughs leads a powerful and seasoned U.S. freestyle team. Burroughs is scheduled to face Russia’s Saba Khubetzhty at 74 kg/163 lbs.

Burroughs beat Khubetzhty 1-1, 5-0, 7-3 earlier this week at the Beat the Streets dual in New York City. Burroughs is 53-0 on the Senior level. Khubezthty won the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix, one of the World’s toughest tournaments, in 2011.

The featured match in freestyle will come at 60 kg/132 lbs. when 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Coleman Scott of the U.S. faces Russian standout Opan Sat, who is ranked No. 1 in the World. Sat, a three-time European champion, defeated Scott earlier this year en route to winning the Yarygin title in Russia.

Scott earned a win over Russia’s Artas Sanaa earlier this week in New York while Sat dropped a wild three-period match to Junior World silver medalist Logan Stieber of the U.S. in the Beat the Streets event.

Canada’s talented Haislan Garcia will compete in men’s freestyle at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. Garcia is a two-time Olympian who has finished fifth in the World. He will face past Junior World bronze medalist Jordan Oliver of the U.S.

Oliver, a two-time NCAA champion, also is scheduled to face Russia’s Magomed Kurbanaliev in the dual.

The U.S. team also features Olympian Sam Hazewinkel, past U.S. National Team member Chris Pendleton and NCAA champion Jon Reader. Pendleton is a California native.

There will be four women’s matches, highlighted by the battle between World champion Elena Pirozhkova of the U.S. against talented young Danielle Lappage of Canada. Pirozhkova beat Lappage, a Junior World champion, in the finals of the Dave Schultz Memorial International in February.

Junior World champion Victoria Anthony, a California native, also is scheduled to compete for the U.S. along with past World Team member Jessica Medina and U.S. Open champion Brittney Roberts.

Anthony is slated to face Canada’s Jasmine Mian, a University World bronze medalist.

A handful of youth matches will be held as well for the event on Sunday.
