Haley Augello (right) receives her Outstanding Wrestler Award for the FILA Junior Nationals from Assistant National Women's Coach Erin Tomeo.

LAKELAND, Fla. – It will be an experienced U.S. FILA Junior World Team going to the World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria this summer, as six of the eight champions at the Body Bar Women’s FILA Junior Nationals repeated as champions.

Most notable was two-time Junior World bronze medalist Erin Golston of the New York AC/USOEC, who made her fourth straight Junior World Team with a dominant victory at 44 kg/97 lbs. Golston dominated Allene Somera of the New York AC, winning in two straight matches with a 7-0 6-0 technical fall in the first match and a second period pin in the second match of their best-of-three series.

Because of her Junior World medal last year, Golston advanced directly to the best-of-three series. The athletes in all of the other weight classes had to compete in the entire national tournament to earn their spots in the finals.

Winning the Outstanding Wrestler award was another repeat Junior World Team members, Haley Augello of the New York AC, the champion at 51 kg/112.25 lbs. Augello, a high school senior, dominated all of her bouts, including her finals series victory over Samantha Klingel of King. Augello had a first period fall in bout one, then followed with a 6-0, 6-0 technical fall in bout two.

The other four athletes to repeat as FILA Junior National champions and earn another trip to the Junior World Championships were Sara Hildebrandt of King at 55 kg/121 lbs., Jenna Burkert of the New York AC/USOEC at 59 kg/130 lbs. Jennifer Page of the Titan Mercury WC at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. and Julia Salata of the New York AC/King at 72 kg/158.5 lbs.

Hildebrandt defeated her King College teammate Kayla Brendlinger in the finals in two straight, by identical 2-0, 1-0 scores in both matches.

Burkert was the only champion who needed three matches to win her finals series. She was pinned in the second period of the opening bout by Kayla Miracle of Team Indiana, but bounced back to win the last two matches. In bout two, Burkert prevailed 1-0, 1-0. In the deciding third match, she scored a 6-0, 3-3 victory. Burkert made her third straight Junior World Team.

Page made her second straight Junior World Team, but dropped down a weight class to win this year at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. Page scored pins in both of her finals series bouts over Shai Mason of the Jimmie Wrestling Club, scoring a fall in the third period of bout one and in the second period of bout two.

The two new members of the Junior World Team are Cody Pfau of the OKCU/Gator Women RTC at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. and Lorrie Ramos of King at 67 kg/147.5 lbs.

Pfau dominated Haley Moreno of the OKCU/Gator Women’s RTC in two straight, with a first period fall in bout one and a 7-0, 5-0 decision in bout two. Ramos also needed only two bouts to win her series, beating Lindenwood’s Amy Spafford in the final series, with a first period pin in bout one and a 3-0, 4-3 decision in the second match.

Winning the 79.5 lbs. weight class, which is not a FILA Junior World Championships weight, was Darcie Manning-O’Brien of Missouri Baptist Wrestling, who swept her finals series in two matches.

Those placing second in the tournament earned a spot on the U.S. Pan American Junior team, which will compete in Santiago, Chile in July. There were two true second place matches held for a spot on this team, which were necessary when the runner-up and third place winners did not wrestle earlier. Winning their true second matches were runners-up Klingel, Miracle and Mason. The only weight where the No. 3 beat No. 2 was at 48 kg/105.5 lbs., where Amy Hou of Team Georgia beat Moreno in three periods.
