Wrestling Canada announces Gia Sissaouri as its Men's National Coach

WRESTLING CANADA ANNOUNCES HIRING OF MEN’S NATIONAL COACH
Wrestling Canada is pleased to announce that Gia Sissaouri has been appointed as Men’s National Team Coach.
Sissaouri, a former FILA World Champion, Olympic silver medalist and Level 3 NCCP certified coach, has been Wrestling Canada’s International Development Coach for the last four years.
“Gia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of high performance wrestling, including athlete preparation and development and will be a great asset to our National Coaching Staff,†said Tamara Medwidsky, Executive Director at Wrestling Canada. “With our men’s program constantly improving on the international scene, we are confident, with this new position, we will be able to raise the bar and further improve our international ranking.â€
As the Senior Men’s Freestyle National Coach, Gia will be responsible for directing the Senior, U24 and Junior Men’s National Team programs, with a specific focus on the Senior Men’s team and Own the Podium priorities. The end goal will be to optimize the performance potential of Canada’s senior men’s freestyle wrestlers at the World Championships and Olympic Games.
