CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. - Champions of all ages were crowned Saturday afternoon on the Carolina Beach for the 2013 Beach Wrestling National Championships

This event is the qualifying event for the 2013 FILA Beach Wrestling World Championships to be held in El Jadida, Morocco, May 31-June 2.  14 athletes qualified for the Beach World’s by placing in the top three in their respective weight classes in the Senior division. 

Taking home the championship in the Senior Men division at 90 kg was C.J. Meyers who defeated Logan Shadeck in the finals 2-0 utilizing a 2 point feet to back throw suplex to earn the win. Meyers also defeated two-time World Beach bronze medalist Jeff Funicello 2-0. Funicello finished in third place at 90 kg.

Other winners in the senior division include Donovan DePatto (70 kg men), Jarrett Payne (80 kg men), Ike Okoli (over 90 kg men), Helen Chong (70 kg women) and Christen Dierkenv (over 70 kg women).
