PURITY WHOLESALE GROCERS, INC. SIGNS AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF GRECO-ROMAN WRESTLING FOR 2000, ANNOUNCES USA WRESTLINGCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 8, 1999) -- USA Wrestling has signed Purity Wholesale Grocers, Inc., Boca Raton, Fla., as the official sponsor of its Greco-Roman National Team for the year 2000, it was announced by Executive Director Jim Scherr today. The Greco- Roman National Team, which recently competed in the World Championships at Athens, Greece, and earlier in the year scored medals in every weight division at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, is continuing to improve its world position.
"Our Greco-Roman National Team continues to show improvement on the world level, and with support by companies like Purity Wholesale Grocers, that success ratio will continue to improve," said Scherr.
PWG Chairman of the Board Jeff Levitetz said: "The sport of wrestling teaches training for the rest of your life. When the opportunity came to sponsor the national team going into the Olympic year, I looked at it as a great opportunity on various levels, most importantly to support our top Greco- Roman wrestlers fulfill their potential at the national and international levels."

PWG and its 'training slogan' will be branded on competitive and non-competitive apparel and supplied to both 24 National Team members (three in each weight category) and the residents-in-training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Other promotional plans are in the works to help indirectly publicize the Olympic Trials in Dallas through grocery chains that PWG supplies.
The U.S.A. National Team for Greco-Roman style wrestling is associated with USA Wrestling, the national governing body for the sport.
