The registration cap of 1,300 wrestlers in the Junior and Cadet divisions of the USAW/Cliff Keen Folkstyle Nationals was reached four days before the registration deadline.
With approval from the University of Northern Iowa and the local organizing committee, USA Wrestling decided to allow 140 more Cadet and Junior athletes to compete from its waitlist. For a registration fee of $75 per entry, athletes that were on the waiting list prior to Monday, April 1 will be given the opportunity to register by today, Wednesday, April 3.
It was decided that 100% of the registration fees from these waitlisted wrestlers will go to support the Committee for the Preservation of Olympic Wrestling (CPOW) in their efforts to keep wrestling in the 2020 Olympics.
Visit KeepWrestlingintheOlympics.com for information on CPOW and the Olympic wrestling effort.
The USAW/Cliff Keen Folkstyle Nationals will also feature Kids and Veterans divisions. There is room for more entries in these divisions. For more information on this event, visit the event website.
This is the final USA Wrestling individual event of the folkstyle season. It is also the first stage of the Triple Crown, which is made up of the Folkstyle Nationals, and the Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals. All 2013 Triple Crown winners will appear on USA Wrestling's 2013-2014 National Events Poster.
