Tickets now on sale for 2000 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials to be held at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas, June 22-24 

Tickets are now on sale for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials, which are scheduled for Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas, June 22-24.

The best amateur wrestlers in the United States in the two Olympic styles of wrestling, freestyle and Greco-Roman, will travel to Dallas to battle for positions on the 2000 U.S. Olympic team, which will compete in Sydney, Australia. A total of 16 berths on the U.S. Olympic team are expected to be up for grabs - eight in freestyle and eight in Greco-Roman.

There will be six sessions of wrestling over the three-day competition, two sessions each day on Thursday, June 22, Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. Freestyle and Greco-Roman competition will be held on each day.

The freestyle and Greco-Roman Challenge Tournaments is scheduled for Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23. The best-of-three Championship Series in both freestyle and Greco-Roman is scheduled for Saturday, June 24.

The cost for an adult all-session ticket is $81, and a youth (14 years and under) all-session ticket is $70.

Individual session ticket prices on Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23 are $20 each. On Saturday, June 14, the morning session ticket price is $24 and the evening session ticket price is $33.

After the event organizers receive the ticket payment, customers will receive a confirmation number, showing that the order has been received and posted. Tickets will be sent via certified mail 30-45 days prior to the event. Prime seat locations will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority seating will be given to all-session buyers.

The United States is among the top wrestling nations in the world, and numerous world-class athletes are expected to compete in the event. The U.S. won eight wrestling medals, including three gold medals, at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. This included five medals in freestyle and three medals in Greco-Roman. In addition, wrestling is one of the most successful of all U.S. sports teams in the history of Olympic competition.

The venue for the tournament will be Reunion Arena, the home of the NBA Dallas Mavericks and the newly crowned NHL Stanley Cup champion Dallas Stars, which has the capacity to seat 16,000 fans.

Organizers have set a goal of establishing a new attendance record for a USA Wrestling event. The 1996 Final Freestyle Olympic Team Trials, which were held in Spokane, Wash., set records for attendance at a freestyle wrestling event in the United States. A total of 24,578 spectators attended the 1996 Final Freestyle Olympic Team Trials in Spokane, Wash.
