Washington, D.C. – The NWCA and Wrestlers in Business Network (WIBN) will hold an information session for veteran/retired coaches and those interested in learning more about the WIBN in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on March 23. 

The goal of the event is to educate and mobilize the “silent majority” of the wrestling community who want to contribute to the sport in new and meaningful ways, said Greater Washington Wrestling Business Network executive director John Licata. 

“There are so many good people with skills and resources that are needed in our sport and back in our communities,” said Licata.

Licata hopes that a support network, comprised of former wrestlers, coaches, etc., will be built in the local community so, that amongst other activities, those involved will work with, purchase from and hire one another. 

"The quality of wrestling people and our economic impact is strong," said Licata.

While all are encouraged to attend the event, the veteran and retried coaches will be addressed and led specifically by Jack Childs. “By combining the skills, resources, and expertise of both the WIBN and retired coaches, our sport is positioned to thrive for many decades,” said Jack Childs.

Childs coached at Drexel for 35 seasons until he retired in 2011. While coaching the Dragons, Childs amassed a record of 421-270-9. 

When Childs retired, he held the most victories out of any other active Division I coach with over 500.  Childs is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and five-time Coach of the Year. 

The information session will take place at 7:30 a.m. at Fanfest in room 302 at the Iowa Events Center. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided for information session attendees.
