JOE BOONE CANCER FUND CREATED TO ASSIST TOP YOUTH WRESTLING COACH IN VIRGINIA 

Joe Boone of Poquoson, Va., the head coach of the nationally respected Peninsula Wrestling Association, and a leading coach of youth wrestlers for many years, has been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer which requires extensive medical treatment.

The wrestling community in Virginia has created the Joe Boone Cancer Fund, which is collecting money to assist Coach Boone in meeting his escalating medical costs. Many of the families that Coach Boone has impacted are working together to help him during this time of need.

Coach Boone has been active in wrestling his entire life. A three-time Virginia state wrestling champion, Boone attended the Univ. of Oklahoma, where he served as captain of the Sooner team before graduating in 1972. He served as head coach at the Univ. of Tennessee and assistant coach at Oklahoma. His high school coaching experience includes stints at Poquoson, Churchland and Cox high schools in Virginia.

As coach of the Peninsula Wrestling Association, Boone has tutored numerous young athletes who have earned All-American honors at major USA Wrestling events.
