USA WRESTLING RELEASES FIRST SENIOR ATHLETE RANKINGS FOR FREESTYLE, GRECO-ROMAN AND WOMEN WRESTLERSUSA Wrestling has released its first Senior athlete rankings, for the nation's best freestyle, Greco-Roman and women wrestlers. The rankings are prepared by a select committee of wrestling experts in each style.
These rankings reflect the performance of U.S. wrestlers during the course of the international wrestling season. Updated rankings will be published in December, March, May and July of each season.
The rankings are being developed at strategic times during the season, in order to recognize recent achievement and promote the efforts of the Senior-level athletes.
These ranking do not replace the annual National Team rankings, determined at the World Team Trials or Olympic Team Trials each year. They are not used for determining National Teams tours, camps or training support, nor will they be used to seed athletes at USA Wrestling events.
The ranking will be posted in the Team USA section on USA Wrestling's web page at http://www.usawrestling.org
Newspaper and broadcast journalists are encouraged to use the rankings in their coverage of amateur wrestling. Wrestling publications may use the rankings, if they call them the USA Wrestling Senior Rankings, display the USA Wrestling logo, and publish the USA Wrestling website address.
Ten athletes are ranked in each of the eight international weight classes in men's freestyle and Greco-Roman. Eight athletes are ranked in each of the six international weight classes for women.
