War of the Roses Central girls folkstyle event set for Constantine, Mich., Feb. 10

The War of the Roses Central Championships, the first event in the War of the Roses Girls Wrestling Series, will be held this Sunday, Feb. 10 at Constantine High School in Constantine, Mich. 

Prior to the dual meets U.S. Women’s World Team member Leigh Jaynes will be hosting a free clinic for all girls in attendance from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Girls will not want to miss this opportunity to learn from a top-ranked Senior female wrestler.

This event will feature girls’ folkstyle wrestling duals for the following age and weight divisions: Elementary Grades 1-5 – Weights: 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 100 and 100+; Middle School Grades 6-8 – Weights: 80, 90, 99, 114, 120, 125, 130, 140, 155, 175 and 195; High School Grades 9-12 – Weights: 97, 105, 112, 117, 121, 125, 130, 139, 148, 159, 172 and 198. 

High school athletes should check with their high school athletic association to ensure eligibility. As a USA Wrestling sanctioned event, all participants must be current 2013 USA Wrestling members. Memberships can be purchased or renewed online at usawmembership.com. 

Preregistration online is available at TrackWrestling until Friday, Feb. 8 at 9:00 p.m. CST and costs $25. After that time, girls may register on-site at Super 8 Three Rivers at 9 p.m. or at Constantine High School at 7:30 a.m. for $30 (cash only). 

Every preregistered wrestler will receive a medal. Dual team results will be calculated and winners will receive a team trophy.
