Upcoming tours feature star U.S. athletes in men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle, including past World and Olympic medalists and World Team members. Among the nations which will be visited are Cuba, Bulgaria, Belarus, Hungary, the Ukraine and Sweden. In men’s freestyle, 2009 World Team member and past NCAA champion at Iowa State Trent Paulson, wrestling at 74 kg/163 lbs., and 2013 Dave Schultz Memorial champion, Devin Carter at 60 kg/132 lbs., will be heading to Havana, Cuba for the Cerro Pelado International. The Dan Kolov International in Plodiv, Bulgaria will feature 2012 Olympic gold medalist Jake Varner, wrestling at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Varner also won bronze at the 2011 World Championships and was a two-time NCAA champion for Iowa State. Also heading to Bulgaria is 2013 Dave Schultz Memorial champion and Iowa State NCAA champion Jon Reader at 84 kg/185 lbs. Also on the roster is past NCAA champion for Pittsburgh, Keith Gavin, also at 84 kg/185 lbs. Among the top wrestlers at this year’s Alexander Medved International in Minsk, Belarus is Jordan Burroughs, 2012 Olympic gold medalist, 2011 World champion and two-time NCAA champion for Nebraska at 74 kg/163 lbs. Olympian and 2009 World bronze medalist Tervel Dlagnev will also be in Minsk at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. Leading the U.S. Greco-Roman team competing at the Hungarian Golden Grand Prix in Szombathely, Hungary will be past University World champion Max Nowry at 55 kg/121 lbs. and former World Team member Joe Betterman at 60 kg/132 lbs. In women’s freestyle, U.S. stars traveling to Kiev, Ukraine for the Outstanding Ukrainian Memorial International include World champion Elena Pirozhkova at 63 kg/138.75 lbs.
