Northern Iowa moves into Top 25 in NWCA Div. I poll after three weekend wins

Manheim, PA - The University of Northern Iowa moved into the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll this week after going 3-0 this past weekend and with two of those wins coming over ranked opponents.

The Panthers (6-2) topped Oklahoma 18-15 on Friday at West Gym and then beat Northwestern 21-13 as part of a tri-meet at SIU-Edwardsville. They debut at No. 21 this week.

The top 10 teams remained relatively unchanged, the only movement coming with Ohio State and Illinois flip-flopping spots at No. 5 and No. 6. The Illini dropped two Big Ten duals to Nebraska and Minnesota and slid one spot to No. 6.

Penn State, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Iowa remained in the 1-4 spots.

Despite losing 17-16 to Central Michigan, Missouri stayed at No. 7, while the Chippewas moved up one spot, in a tie for 11th with Virginia. Oklahoma, with its loss to UNI, slid three spots to No. 16. Bloomsburg continued to move up the rankings, moving up one spot to No. 19.

Maryland dropped out of the Top 25 for the first time this season after falling to Navy 22-18.
