IT’S NATIONAL WRESTLING DAY! Enjoy some wrestling today as the season heats up

A number of national wrestling organizations, led by Joe Baranik of Pennsylvania Wrestling Newsmagazine, declared today, November 3, as National Wrestling Day.

This is the unofficial start of competition for the college wrestling season in America, along with some major USA Wrestling and international wrestling events all across the continent.

The Cliff Keen USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals started today in Cedar Falls, Iowa. This major early season folkstyle event continues to grow in size and prestige. Today is the high school division, with 1,047 entries starting the day.

The NWCA All-Star Classic will be held in Washington, D.C. Many of the nation’s best college stars will battle in challenge matches at this annual showcase event. A featured match will pit 2012 NCAA champions Kyle Dake of Cornell against David Taylor of Penn State. The event is sold out and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time in Bender Arena on the campus of American University

U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers are competing today at the Hargobind International at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby Mountain, Canada.
