Five U.S. women weigh in and get draws at Cadet Worlds in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan – The first five U.S. women’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws at the FILA Cadet World Championships. The women’s event begins Thursday.
2011 Cadet World silver medalist Marina Doi is among those competing on Thursday. She opens the event against 2012 European bronze medalist Maria Marinska of Bulgaria at 38 kg/83.75 lbs.
Another returning athlete is Kayla Miracle of Indiana at 56 kg/123.25 lbs., who placed eighth at the 2011 FILA Cadet World Championships. Miracle faces Naveen Naveen of India in the opening round. Miracle won the FILA Cadet Nationals and Junior Nationals this year, leading into this event.
The other three U.S. athletes on the mats will be Julia Long of Mt. View, Wyo. at 43 kg/94.5 lbs., Cadence Lee of Los Altos Hills, Calif. at 49 kg/108 lbs. and Alyssa LaFrancis of Vista, Calif. at 65 kg/143 lbs.
Long opens with 2011 Cadet World bronze medalist Evin Demirhan of Turkey. Lee starts off with two-time Asian Cadet champion Nanami Irie of Japan. LaFrancis drew Asli Tugcu of Turkey.
Lee won the Body Bar FILA Cadet Nationals in Lakeland and the Cadet Nationals in Fargo this year.
The U.S. coaches are Tony DeAnda of Jamestown, N.D.; Lee Miracle of Bloomington, Ind. and Donnie Stephens of West Covina, Calif.
