U.S. to compete at Pan American FILA Cadet Championships in Maracaibo, Venezuela, July 13-15

The United States will send full teams in all three Olympic styles to compete at the 2012 Pan American FILA Cadet Championships in Maracaibo, Venezuela, July 13-15.

Top 15-17 year old wrestlers from North America, Central American and South America will participate in this annual event.

The U.S. team will feature a number of medalists from the 2012 FILA Cadet Nationals for boys in Akron, Ohio, as well as the 2012 Body Bar FILA Cadet Nationals for girls in Lakeland, Fla.

Greco-Roman competition will be held on Friday, July 13. The U.S. team will feature FILA Cadet National runners-up Tanner Cox of Utah (42 kg) and Nick Corba of Ohio (76 kg), plus FILA Cadet National bronze medalist Carter Shipley of Florida (100 kg).

On Saturday, July 14, the women’s freestyle competition will be held. Leading the U.S. team are Body Bar FILA Cadet National champions Marina Doi of California (38 kg), Regina Doi of California (40 kg), Amy Hou of Georgia (46 kg) and Alyssa LaFrancis of California (65 kg), plus Body Bar FILA Cadet National runners-up Cody Pfau of Colorado (49 kg), Jasmine Bailey of Iowa (52 kg), Areana Villaescusa of Arizona (56 kg) and Olivia Toth of New Hampshire (70 kg).

The event concludes with the men’s freestyle division on Sunday, July 15. FILA Cadet Nationals runners-up Anthony Giraldo of New Jersey (58 kg) and Eric Morris of Pennsylvania (85 kg) and FILA Cadet Nationals bronze medalists Mark Hall of Michigan (69 kg) and Andrew Garcia of Michigan (76 kg) will headline the American team.
